Garden Fun

I had the opportunity of being able to do some yard appeal this weekend. To begin with I my weekend started off with a trip to Blue Hills Regional High School to see a lecture with Alex Anderson. For those who don't know who Alex is she is a quilter a designer and an author of many books. She was awesome, personal and a she was especially nice to me. She took my business card and she gave me a name of a lady who is  with the "Quilt Life Magazine" and told me I should take an article I told her about and to submit it to this lady... How good could the weekend start.. Got a photo op with her as many did and it was the start of a great weekend.

So with that said, I go to Sunday. A beautiful start to the day. It was sunny, warm, and just perfect for the day I had planned. First I made my weekly call to one of my dearest friends to see if she wanted to have coffee together. Of course she did we have only made this a weekly tradition for god knows how long... As we sat and drank our coffee, we caught up on the goings on from the previous week, chatted about things she wants for her up coming wedding; Yup she's getting Married Yehaa!!!! An exciting time for her, so I always enjoy hearing what she has to say about the wonderful event. So after we had our catch up time together and making plans to get together this week for a little shopping, I went to the local greenery/nursery to buy flowers for my 'Bathtub" yup I said it. I have repurposed an old cast iron bathtub. So with this said I need to give a we bit of history behind why I have repurposed a bathroom fixture. A few years back my husband got a new toilet for the bathroom to just do some up grade. Ok, that's fine upgrades are always a good thing. I asked him what he was going to do with the old toilet, he stearnly told me he was bringing it to the dump. I said "No Way Boy" I want it to plant flowers in it. He thought I was completely nuts. Well you tell me I have gotten many nice comments on what I did to repurpose my toilet.

Well with that finished I took the tub, had my husband and two boys move it to it's new location. It now lives in the corner of my yard in full sun and has been reformed into a sign of beauty. I think I nee to add a few finishing touches but time will tell.

So what do you think did I do a nice job of repurposing these bathroom fixtures. I am remember that one of my friends told me that the tub reminds her of a Cialis commercial... I totally got a kick out of that... Humor in gardening is a wonderful sign of "Laughter is the Best Medicine" A great article section in "Readers Digest"...

So after all was said and done with that my husband helped me fix an area in my garden where we think the squirrels or maybe a stupid animal played in Pumpkin& Watermelon patch. So he built me a caged area to keep my garden from being dug up. Here is what he built...

I think you now get that I have a creative mind and that things in my yard are a bit "Redneckish" This photo of my Pumpkin & Watermelon Patch is now safe from the outside critters who were making my life miserable. This morning when I checked everything, all was in tacked and un disturbed. Maybe I need a cover but for now things look good...

Here are other photos of my garden and what I did with the flag pole in the front yard. Feel free to leave a comment and if you don't follow my blog give it a try. I promise you won't regret it...

In this bed of yumminess we have Green Beans, Cucumbers, Lettuce, and Summer Squash...

     Blue Hydraingea's                                                                                           Tomatoes Yummm!!!!

What a Sweet Summer Sewing Project

I saw this on Facebook and just had to check it out... It reminds me of the aprons that my mom use to wear when she was making me my favorite cookies, and have them ready for me by the time I arrived home from school... This is just so cute, plus I love the Rickrack on the bottom... What sweetness this has and I know I have to make this... I just love stuff like this and I am thrill Windham shared this with us... Thank you Windham for the awesome share...

How adorable is this apron, and leave it to Windham Fabrics to make this pattern available for free on there site.
So my advice to you if want something easy and cute to make got to Windham Fabrics and check out this adorable apron, and what's even better is the pattern is free. Can't get better than that...

What's on your Plate for today

What's on your plate for tasks today; I am a very blessed person. I would have never thought that I would have the support of a community like I have in the quilting community. I have now been associated with this group of professionals for three years that have supported me, guided me, mentored me and believed in me in such a heart warming way. I am honored to know each and everyone of you who h...ave continued to guide me to being a success. Today I have the distinct honor of beginning a quilt that almost 90% of the fabric have been donated to be by fabric companies I wrote to in order for me to create a quilt that in time will be I hope a vision of absolute amazement. However long it takes I hope this quilt becomes one that I can submit in a show, win a ribbon, and submit to a magazine for publishing. How could life treat a person with such luck. Thank you all for your continued support..

Another Show and Share

Hello and Good Morning Gang I wanted to share with you all another quilt top that one of my Mystery Quilt Along members made and shared with everyone. Debi Miller made this beautiful quilt top. Though she changed it up a bit I think it shows that ones creativity can go beyond the outer limits of traditional quilting...

I especially love the back ground fabric. How stunning is the black. It looks very rich and bold... Share your thoughts here...

To Repurpose or Not to Repurpose that's the question...

Yesterday I chose to have the ever-loving toilet bowl make its reappearance to the back yard garden area. I love to repurpose old stuff. I have an old cast iron claw foot bathtub I soon will be repurposing for another garden area. I planted a vegetable garden a couple of weeks ago and then planted the pumpkins and watermelons. Everything seems to be thriving very well... The only thing that needs work is the darn chipmunks that love to play in that area... They won't last long if I have anything to say about it...

So with that said I digress and want to share my new garden with all of you... I am thrilled with my garden and I usually have gook luck, so I hope this year is the same...

A Wonderful Update

Good Morning Quilters, I have an update on the Sandy Hook Quilt that was created by many of my fellow quilters from across the country. Last evening I was on Facebook and chatting with the father of Jesse McCord Lewis, Neil Heslin was the dad who I presented the Angel Quilt to and he has yet returned home from his travels across the US to talk with Congress and the Senate to try repeal the gun laws in these states. Neil has travel since the week before Memorial day 12,000 mile with this quilt and has been vigilant about his task of advocating for all who lost a child or loved one on that horrible December 14th day in 2012.

I am so thrilled to know that Neil is trying to go some good for all of us in this country.
This is not a long post however I am glad to share with all of you the travels of this quilt. I am hoping to go back to Sandy Hook this coming weekend to be part of a fundraiser for the Sandy Hook Fire Department who was the first responder to the God Bless those men and women who work so very hard as first responders.
I am pleased to be associated with a wonderful group of first responders here on Cape Cod, MA. They are the one group of people who try very hard to make this community I live in a safe and fun place to live...
